1. Around 1908R.J. McEwen began making coffins in Mint Hill, North Carolina.
2. 1915R.J.'s son, Carl J. McEwen, began working with him.
3. 1921The McEwens purchased a hearse and began servicing funerals.
4. 1926R.J. and Carl opened McEwen Funeral Home of Mint Hill.
5. 1935Another funeral home was built on Matthews-Mint Hill Road.
6. 1972McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel opened to serve families in the Derita community.
