Ask for the General Price List.
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, a funeral home must give you a General Price List that is yours to keep, listing every item and service it offers and what each costs. Compare two or three before you choose.

Paying ahead
Prepaying is optional.
If a funeral home offers a prepaid plan, ask how the money is held, what the price covers, and what happens if you move or cancel. The rules differ by state.
